The very first time we visited Buxton some years ago we stayed there. Apparently we were the latest of a long line of people going back to Mary Queen of Scots who had slept there. Nothing in the architecture was square. The floors leaned over as did the wardrobes. As a result, the first morning I jumped out of bed I went flat on my face.
