But mom, he followed me home! Can I keep him?

Is that what you told
your mom when you brought KK home the first time?

The 1992 annual filk awards had as a nomination (but alas not a winner) the song Woof by Diana Gallagher. It is all about bringing a dragon home. The chorus goes:

“Can I keep him, can I keep him, huh, Mom?
Can I keep him, please?
He really, really likes me, and he
only eats bugs and weeds.
Can I keep him, can I keep him, huh, Mom?
Can I keep him, pretty please?
He won’t be any trouble, and....
dragons don’t have fleas.”

Filk music started off as folk music but someone had a bad case of fat fingers when typing it, and now relates to folkie style music with a Si-Fi-type theme.

It’s really marvellous what Google will throw up when you punch in a search term...
