A charming study.
Shoulders correctly positioned; hand lightly resting in lap; magazine exquisitly held; head upright and slightly in profile - exhibiting the subject's best side; legs delicately crossed (no awkwardness displayed); a staged pose, but natural.
It is a perfect study. It is a textbook example of how to photograph a pretty, demure girl.
Just a moment! She's reading 'Studio Light' magazine - a periodical produced by Eastman Kodak - full of tips of how to take photos. This is written theory, practiced and photographed.
If you are unaware of the date of the sitting, this could be established by comparing known issues with the magazine she is holding.
Photographs can reveal so much.
So why is the picture printed in reverse?
Because the overly tall Scot who scanned the glass negative did it backwards.
